10 days is a platform for interdisciplinary contemporary arts and creative engagement in and around Winchester. A Community Interest Company, run by local arts professionals; 10 days collaborates with artists and cultural providers, stimulating new ways of thinking by bringing together different forms of creative practice and making them visible.
10 days aims to increase public engagement and develop artistic opportunities through a periodic programme of events. Biennial projects include: CHALK (2015); Creative Collisions (2013); Across the City (2011); and In The Laundry (2009).
CHALK is the very bedrock of the Winchester environment; it is material for art and, here, its subject.
CHALK presents independently selected creative responses to the theme in venues throughout Winchester, with a range of events to engage audiences, over 4 weeks, 10 October - 7 November.
The project links the creative community with the city’s education and business sectors, cultural organisations and local government.
Creative Collisions engaged over 15,000 people in the city and 13,750 online. It animated the city with new exhibitions, events and creative activity across all art forms, including contemporary arts, poetry, science and performance. The project involved 168 mid-career and emerging practitioners, 59 projects and 27 venues, including the Universities of Winchester and Southampton, Winchester Cathedral, Theatre Royal, Winchester Discovery Centre, Winchester Science Centre, and Winchester College, as well as local businesses and arts groups.
