Kim Norton uses materials from the locality in their raw state to re-imagine something that can often be regarded as unimportant. Presented onto unstretched canvas, CaCO3 dismisses formal ideas around painting. The canvas is simply a surface to work with chalk used as a mark-making tool, conveying a strong sense of place. Thank you to Mark Yorke, Somborne Quarry for his support
